It is Silent Night according to data from ‘Headphonesty’ which examined a top 30 list of Christmas carols most searched on Google and YouTube.
They listed the top five as:
Silent Night
Carol of the Bells
Away in a Manger
Oh Holy Night
In the Bleak Midwinter
Ah yes, but that flies in the face over the preferences of Classic FM’s audience.
They voted :
Oh Holy Night
In The Bleak Midwinter
Carol of the Bells
Silent Night
Hark the Herald Angels
It may be that this is a generational issue. YouTube and Google do have a younger demographic than you would expect from Classic FM. (Nice though, to know that the younger folks still enjoy carols.)
But what is frustrating is that all the surveys and the public votes manage to get things so wrong.
The best one is Coventry Carol. Duh!
