About The Choir

We are a sociable male voice choir in the heart of the Cotswolds and the fundamentals of the Cirencester Male Voice Choir are simple: we like to sing and to socialise, and as a result, raise money for local charities. We know that through group singing we can build a sense of fun and of community.

A traditional choir with a contemporary outlook we sing songs that range from the religious to the romantic, interspersed with some more modern that prompt some wonderful emotional reaction from our audiences.

We know that singing is genuinely good for health and research has shown that singing may help ward off illness – a benefit not to be underestimated in recent times – by increasing the hormones and neurotransmitters that boost mood and the immune system. And it reduces stress. In short, it is good for you, good for the charities, and it’s good to get together.

As a choir we are pretty good. We have sung alongside the London Welsh Male Voice Choir at the Albert Hall and performed at the Cornwall International Male Choral Festival. Concerts range from great Cathedrals, to local churches and village halls.

While it is fair to say that not all of us are fantastic singers (though a few are) but our aim is to enjoy singing and meet new friends, (we were voted the ‘Happiest Choir’ in a festival in Torquay!) and the blend of massed voices we have gathered together bring a sound that is harmonious and is well received. That’s the unity brought about in a sociable male voice choir

The choir is honoured to have as its patron the Right Honourable Earl Bathurst.

Come to a Rehearsal

Cirencester MVC meet every Monday evening at the Cirencester Rugby Club on The Whiteway. Our rehearsals are quite relaxed, starting at 19.30, and lasting around 2 hours.   You do not need to be able to read music. Most of us don’t! Members can access rehearsal tracks for each part and for every song, and our Music Team will guide you along. Sometimes rehearsals are followed by a drink (and song) at a nearby pub.

The social element to the choir is important.  We are all about encouraging friendship and generating a strong, cohesive musical unit.

To join us, send us a message, or speak to any member for further information. Alternatively, just come along to one of our practices. You don’t need any experience of singing in a choir nor do you need to be able to read music.  Come and see why singing in a choir is now one of the most popular past times in the UK!

We are proud to have sung alongside so many wonderful choirs. We have performed with the London WelshCotswoldCaldicot, and Gloucestershire Police Male Voice Choirs, The Brize Norton Military wives, the Cirencester Singers, the Blue Notes,  Southampton Youth Concert Sinfonia,  Norway’s Sandneskameratene Choir and Ireland’s Gracenotes Ladies’ Choir.
