Music Director

Heralded for performances of “spectacular musicianship and technical brilliance” pianist and educator James Willshire has taken the role of Music Director of the Cirencester Male Voice Choir.

James is on the Keyboard Department faculty at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

He has appeared as soloist at the Royal Festival Hall, the Barbican, St John’s Smith Square, the Palau de la Musica in Barcelona, Glasgow City Halls, Queens Hall Edinburgh, and the Fairfield Halls. His recording work has been praised as ‘outstanding’ by International Record Review.

CMVC Chairman Mark Pratley said: “It is an absolute delight that such a wonderful musician will be leading our Musical Direction. We are thrilled.”

James is a keen educator with an active diary of children’s concert engagements. With the Willshire Piano Duo, incorporating his wife Philippa Harrison and himself, he has developed a series of interactive concert events that the Duo have taken to schools around the UK.
