You CAN sing!
Many people, when asked about joining a choir will usually reply “Oh I’d love to but I can’t sing”. The thing is, this just isn’t true. Everyone can sing.
It’s not really that different from speaking. We all have a different voice and we aren’t looking for professionals who have performed at the Royal Opera House. (Not that we’d say no to them!)
If you don’t know whether you are a tenor baritone or bass, we will find out. We have a talented Music Team who have long experience in teaching. The are trained to help singers of all levels, whether you have performed publicly or just bellowed in the bath.
Cirencester MVC is a high quality Cotswold choir gathering men together to enjoy singing. And nowhere is this more apparent than in our rehearsals. Monday night choir practice is intended to balance learning songs for our performances with having fun. We start with 5 minutes of light hearted warmups and then to the pieces we are going to learn.
When you first start out you might be worried whether you are singing too softly, or off key. You’ll soon discover that everyone else is so focussed on their own singing they won’t even notice you!

Rehearsing together
For our rehearsals everyone is given a copy of the music. But that doesn’t mean we expect you to be able to read music or understand musical notation. Far from it. All our songs are taught by ear, line by line where necessary. Nobody needs to be worried about whether they can read music. So long as you can learn the words, you will be just fine.
We have practise recordings all of the tenor and bass parts, so you can listen in and practise at hoe. The end result is a sense of pride and engagement and performances that are widely appreciated.
