Music groups are appealing to the government to change the rule of six that applies to choirs wishing to practise indoors.
A quick ‘news’ search on Google shows how many choirs are complaining about the current guidance – not least because this was not what the Government had originally outlined.
There will not be a change to the official performing arts guidance until Step 4 is brought in across England and that may or may not happen on 21 June.
In order to have an issue discussed in Parliament, a petition requires 100,000 signatures. At the moment, the petition has a little over 50,000.
If you agree with the proposition – ‘I would like the government to retract the guidance issued on 18 May that says amateur choirs can only rehearse indoors in groups of six. Step 3 of the roadmap should allow choirs of any size to rehearse indoors providing social distancing is maintained and COVID-secure measures are in place’ then you might wish to sign the petition that can be found here.
